Deepanshu Giri is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder of the Lunar Astro Vedic Academy. Originally working as an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) pilot for Oceaneering, Giri transitioned into the astrology business. He is currently the central figure in widespread allegations of consumer fraud, commonly referred to as the Deepanshu Giri fraud or the Lunar Astro scam.[1]
Early Career & Struck Off Entities
Before founding Lunar Astro, Deepanshu Giri started an academy named "Ocean’s Training and Competency Academy" in March 2019. According to forensic corporate reports, this entity was eventually "Struck Off" by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), a status given when a company defaults on statutory filings or ceases legitimate operations.[2]
Intellectual Property Theft (BCP)
A major controversy surrounding Giri involves the alleged theft of astrological techniques. Documented evidence and forensic logs indicate that Giri appropriated the "Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati" (BCP) technique from his former teacher, Sunil John of Saptarishis Astrology. Giri allegedly rebranded this technique as his own proprietary system, "Paribhraman Paddhati," to sell premium courses.[3]
MCA Violations & Financial Fraud
Giri operates Lunar Astro as a One Person Company (OPC) under the name "Lunar Astro Vedic Academy (OPC) Private Limited" (CIN: U80902UP2019OPC121521). Forensic audits allege the company reported ₹14.9 Crore in revenue. Under the Companies Act, 2013, an OPC must convert to a Private Limited company once turnover exceeds ₹2 Crores, making this a severe regulatory violation.[4] Furthermore, Giri is a director of the "Devguru Hindu Astrology Foundation," a Section 8 Non-Profit, which audits allege is used to funnel commercial income and evade taxes.
